General

SparkFinder is a game-based cognitive discovery program for K–12 students. Children play short, interactive activities, and the platform maps patterns across 14 cognitive domains and 238 underlying skills — things like attention, memory, processing speed and reasoning. The result is a profile of how a child learns, not a score of how smart they are.

No. SparkFinder does not produce an IQ score and is not a diagnostic or clinical tool. It’s a discovery assessment — it describes patterns in how a child approaches learning tasks. It does not label, diagnose, or rank children against a fixed intelligence scale.

Grades 1 through 12. The activities and their difficulty adapt to the grade, so a Class 2 child and a Class 11 child are given very different versions of the same underlying task.

Around 40–45 minutes for the full battery, usually split into short activities of two to three minutes each. It’s designed to feel like play rather than a test, with no strict time pressure on any single question.

No, and preparing would actually work against the purpose. SparkFinder is measuring natural approach and cognitive patterns, not taught knowledge — there’s nothing to study for, and coaching a child beforehand would distort the profile rather than improve it.

For Parents

Often, yes. Strong marks can hide a child who is coasting rather than being stretched — the two can look identical on a report card. A cognitive profile shows which one you’re looking at, and where a confident learner might still be quietly under-challenged.

A plain-language report on your child: natural strengths, areas that may benefit from support, and practical next steps — things to try at home, not clinical terminology. No comparison to other children, and no numeric ranking.

No. There’s no ranking against classmates in the report you receive. The profile is about your child’s own pattern of strengths, not a league table.

Yes. While many families first encounter SparkFinder through a school-wide Spark Day, you can take the assessment independently and receive your child’s report directly.

Each report includes personalised, post-assessment activity recommendations — specific things to try at home based on what showed up. Many parents also share the report with their child’s class teacher, since it gives both of you a shared vocabulary for what’s actually going on.

For Schools & Educators

One grade, one day, zero cost. Every child in that grade plays the SparkFinder activities during a normal school day, and the school receives a grade-level cognitive snapshot. It’s the simplest way for a school to try SparkFinder before any commitment.

No. SparkFinder runs in a browser on laptops, Chromebooks, tablets and phones — whatever the school already has. There’s nothing to install, and a shared set of tablets passed between small groups works perfectly well.

A class-level cognitive profile showing where the grade is strong and where it may benefit from support, individual profiles for every child, and a school-level view once multiple classes or grades have taken part. Suggested classroom actions are tied to what the data actually shows.

Yes — that’s a design requirement, not an afterthought. Reports avoid clinical language and are built around what a teacher would actually do next: the kind of task to try, the kind of support to offer. Nothing in them requires interpretation by a specialist.

The cognitive domains map onto NEP 2020’s skills focus and IB’s Approaches to Learning framework, and SparkFinder is used across CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge and IB schools. It complements academic assessment rather than replacing it — it measures the cognitive skills underneath the marks, not the curriculum content itself.

Those are largely pencil-and-paper or click-through cognitive ability tests focused on academic aptitude reasoning. SparkFinder is game-based, covers a broader set of domains including things like emotional regulation and imagination, and is explicitly built as a discovery tool rather than a placement or streaming instrument.

Assessment & Science

Attention, Memory, Executive Functions, Visual-Spatial Understanding, Language & Communication, Processing Speed, Creativity & Divergent Thinking, Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence & Self-Regulation, Metacognition & Strategy, Decision-Making & Judgment, Multi-Sensory Processing, Imagination, and Logical Reasoning. Together they break down into 238 more specific skills.

Each activity is built around an established cognitive science paradigm — the Odd One Out task measures visual processing speed, a Stroop-style colour task measures inhibitory control, and so on. Skills contribute to domains with different weightings depending on how directly they measure that construct, similar in spirit to how established cognitive batteries are built.

Cognitive skills develop over time, particularly in children, so a profile taken this year is a snapshot rather than a permanent label. Repeat assessment — which SparkFinder Class and SparkFinder School support — is how you track whether a growth area is being addressed.

We’re deliberately cautious here. Research on brain-training transfer is genuinely mixed — some tasks show near-transfer to closely related skills, but broad claims of general intelligence gains haven’t held up well under scrutiny. SparkFinder’s activities are built as assessment tools first; we don’t claim that repeated play alone produces measurable cognitive improvement.

Technical

Any modern browser on a laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone. It’s built to run smoothly even on lower-end devices and slower connections, since that’s the reality in a lot of Indian classrooms.

Yes — SparkFinder is built light specifically for 2G and 3G conditions, not just fast school wifi. It’s one of the reasons a shared set of a few tablets can comfortably serve an entire class.

No. It runs entirely in the browser from a link — nothing to download, no app store, no IT approval process to get through before a class can start.

Progress is saved as each activity completes, so a dropped connection loses at most the activity in progress, not the whole session. The child can resume from where the interruption happened.

Data & Privacy

Student data is collected and stored in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. It is never sold or used for advertising, and parental consent is built into the enrolment process wherever a child is signed up through a school.

The parent, and the child’s own class teacher when taken through a school. Schools control who among their staff can see which reports, and individual profiles are never shared with other parents or made visible to classmates.

Yes. Under the DPDP Act, parents can request access to or deletion of their child’s data. Contact us and we’ll action it.

Aggregated, de-identified data may be used to improve the assessment itself — refining how activities map to domains, for instance. Individual, identifiable results are used only to generate that child’s own report.
